Members of Comedy Central’s infamously inept and fictitious Reno Sheriff’s Department will be in Gaines Hall, room 101 Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. as a free MSU Campus Entertainment event.

The director of Campus Entertainment, John Stiles, says they were able to get premium pricing and benefits because they booked the “Reno 911!” act at a  National Association for Collegiate Activities (NACA) conference this past fall, and they’ll be passing the savings on to the MSU community.

This event is free and is first-come-first-served seating for MSU students. The event is not, however, limited to MSU students only, but MSU students and staff will receive priority seating.

Stiles says, “Our priority is to serve the student body first and community second.”

The show will include two members of the “Reno 911!” cast, Cedric Yarbrough and Carlos Alazraqui, both seasoned comedic actors. Yarbrough, best known for his portrayal of Deputy S. Jones on “Reno 911!,” currently provides the voices of two characters for the animated series “The Boondocks.” Alazraqui played Deputy James Garcia and has provided voice acting for many children’s animated television shows, including “Phineas and Ferb,” “The Fairly OddParents!” and “Rocko’s Modern Life.”

“Reno 911!,” a popular satire of the documentary television show “COPS,” ran from 2003 to 2009. The cast reportedly improvised much of the dialogue on the show and the show also featured numerous popular comedians in guest appearances.

This event is a Champ Change event. The Champ Change program aims to get new students more involved in their campus by allowing them to amass by participating in activities. The points then make them eligible for prizes. Students who attend the “Reno 911!” event will be eligible to collect 700 Champ Change points.

A video of the two comedians who will be performing can be found on the ASMSU Campus Entertainment’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/asmsuce?sk=videos.
